Sally’s Sangria
Fruity, slighty sweet and tart, with a color-changing syrup
Ingredients
For the Sangria
Tart White Wine - I love Prophecy Sauvignon Blanc & Kung Fu Girl Riesling
Two Lemons
Two Oranges
Two Limes
Vodka (if you want to make the drink stronger)
For the Butterfly Pea Syrup
1/4 cup of Butterfly Pea Flowers
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Instructions
Build your Sangria
Wash your citrus, and slice into rounds
In a pitcher or any container, pour in your wine, vodka, and fruit rounds. Stir and place into your fridge for at least an hour. I recommend overnight.
Make your Butterfly Pea Syrup
In a saucepan, pour in your water and sugar. Stir till the sugar has fully dissolved
Add in your Butterfly Pea flowers, I used about a quarter of a cup. Stir to combine, remove from the heat, and cover with a lid
After the flowers have sat in your syrup for around 3 - 5 minutes, strain the syrup into an airtight container. This should stay well in a fridge for about a month
Build your cocktail
Pour your syrup into your glass and add ice on top. This will help to get your cocktail to not mix before you are ready.
As you can see in my (blurry) picture, I did not follow step one and you can see the color change already.
Using a bar spoon, slowly pour in your sangria.
Get your camera ready! Stir and watch the colors change
Garnish with a lime wheel
Enjoy!
