Bloody Good Cheer | Mocktail

From the heart comes a warning, filled with bloody good cheer, remember what happened as the 14th draws near… with this strawberry sage blackberry lemonade

Ingredients

  • 3 Lemons (slice one in half. Chop up one half of it and slice the other half into rounds)

  • Strawberries (slice up 3 to muddle and 4 for the simple syrup, slice up 1 into hearts for the garnish)

  • Blackberries (small pint)

  • Fresh sage (Slice 3 leaves into ribbons; clean two - four for garnish)

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup water

Make your simple syrup

  1. Place a small pot on the stove and combine your water, sugar, sliced strawberries, and blackberries.

  2. Mash down the berries as the mixture comes to a boil

  3. Bring to a boil and then cover and remove from heat

  4. After 15 minutes, strain the mixture to remove the seeds and chill

Muddle your berry and sage mixture

  1. With a mortar and pestle or bowl and whatever mashing tool you prefer, mash together your sage ribbons, sliced strawberries, and blackberries (I did around 6) until incorporated

Build your lemonade

  1. Fill your pitcher with ice

  2. Spoon over your ice the muddled berry sage mixture

  3. Pour over your simple syrup

  4. Juice in the rest of your lemons

  5. Top with water if you need to water down the mixture (I needed about 1 cup)

  6. Stir to incorporate, and garnish your individual glasses with a lemon wheel, sage leaves, and strawberry heart; enjoy!
