Dress Like | Annabel Lee

“It was many and many a year ago,

In a kingdom by the sea,

That a maiden there lived whom you may know

By the name of Annabel Lee….”

There are so many beloved Gothic heroines, and I have always wanted to figure out how to dress like them. Despite no longer being near an ocean, I have always felt drawn to Annabel Lee. Curse, yet so cherished, there was something dark and ethereal to her poem. I wanted to recreate this feeling with light and heavily romantic silhouettes reminiscent of the waves crashing around her sepulcher.

To help my inspiration find more grounded footing, I turned to fan art to see if I could help conceptualize how to create this outfit. I am thrilled that people like DreadIllustrations exist to help capture the hauntingly beautiful love described in the poem.

DreaDIllustrations - Linked to her store

Here is how I would dress if I wanted to dress as Annabel Lee

The Dresses

Boho Fairy Gown - Etsy ($200.65)

A girl can dream and swoon over a dress at the same time, right? The shop is linked and honestly there is not a single bad angle to this gorgeous piece.

Beach Wedding Dress - Selina Dress ($263.99)

This is unfortunately one of those dresses that looks like it might not have a legitimate store. I think I found the best store, but please use caution.

Off-Shoulder Prom Dress - PGMDress ($219.99)

Unfortunately, like the previous dress this doesn’t look like the most reliable website so please proceed with caution <3

Accessories

Beach Hair Accessories - Etsy ($19.00+)

Since the dress will be the star of the show, I wanted to keep the accessories still whimsical but also minimal

Aphrodite’s Seashell Necklaces - Etsy ($25.99+)

These gorgeous and unique seashell pendants are gold color coated and are hanging on a stainless steel gold chain

Annabel Lee Perfume Oil - Good Goth ($9.00)

Whispering like the winds in that kingdom by the sea, ANNABEL LEE Perfume Oil mesmerizes with a green base like soft mosses of the shore and heart notes of fresh ocean air and driftwood. Hints of funerary flowers including lily and rose dance like ghosts at the edges of this blend and create a timeless and haunting fragrance.
